Dear fellow Tar Heels,

On Friday, Oct. 20, we will celebrate you and all you do to make Carolina a world-class university with our annual Employee Appreciation Day!

Join us in person at the Pit and Carolina Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a day of fun activities, good food, live music and a free gift. The event’s festivities will also include:

  • Caricature and face-painting artists
  • Carnival games and inflatables
  • Department/local business fair
  • Pelican’s SnoBalls
  • Student Stores in-person discount
  • 360 photo booth

Beginning at 11:30 a.m. you can enjoy a free baked potato bar with your choice of fixings (grilled chicken, bacon, cheese and more). A hot breakfast will be served in the Pit from 6:45 to 9 a.m. for shift workers just beginning — or ending — their day.

To view the full agenda of the day’s events and to see what other offerings are available for employees this month, please visit the Employee Appreciation Day webpage.

Employee Appreciation Day participation is free, and attendance is considered work time for staff, who should seek advance approval from their supervisors to attend. Free parking is available in the Cobb Deck on Paul Green Drive.

Even if your work arrangement is such that you are not typically on site on Fridays, we hope you will be able to structure your schedule so that you can join us for the day’s celebration.

Cheers to Peers

Our Cheers to Peers platform is back again this year with a quick-and-easy way to send a shout-out to your Carolina colleagues to thank them for making your skies a little more Carolina Blue and to celebrate the year’s successes, big and small.

Submit a short message with the Cheers to Peers online form any time through Thursday, Oct. 19. On Friday, Oct. 20, Cheers to Peers messages will be posted to the Employee Appreciation Day webpage, where you’ll be able to view and search all messages — the ones you’ve sent and the ones you’ve received!

Thank you for making every day a great day to be a Tar Heel. We can’t wait to kick up our heels with you!

Hark the sound,

Becci Menghini
