Looking ahead to this year’s appraisal season
The appraisal period for this year’s performance cycle is coming soon, and we want to be sure you have these reminders and updates to help you prepare.
What to do before March 15
- Review your personal goals and make any updates in Carolina Talent. Indicate the progress you’ve made towards your goals and include any comments and supporting documents. Be sure your goals are ready for appraisal no later than Tuesday, Feb. 20.
- Prepare for your optional self-assessment. Starting March 15, you’ll have the chance to evaluate your accomplishments, goal progress and additional considerations with an optional self-assessment in Carolina Talent.
For Managers:
- Review your employees’ goals in Carolina Talent. Check to be sure all employees have goals in the system and that those goals are still aligned with unit priorities. Validate any changes with your employees and approve pending employee goals. To help, you can export all of your employees’ goals into one spreadsheet. If any of your employees are missing goals, work with your employees to create goals then enter the goals in Carolina Talent.
- Meet with new hires to discuss performance plans and document goals.
New resources coming soon
- Performance Management on the HR website. A new mini-site will make it easier to find what you need to know about performance management for appraisal season and throughout the year.
- Carolina Talent Performance Hub. A new online knowledgebase will house comprehensive guides and instructions for using Carolina Talent Performance to set goals and complete performance tasks.
