UNC System retirement transition from Fidelity to TIAA

As you know, the UNC System is in the process of moving to a single retirement plan recordkeeper for UNC retirement plans. Moving forward, TIAA will provide all recordkeeping services for the UNC retirement programs.

This transition affects UNC employes with ORP, UNC 403b or UNC 457 accounts. A notice mailed to your home address in January 2024 outlines how your account balance(s) will transfer from Fidelity to TIAA.

Reminder of blackout period

To facilitate the transition of existing investment balances through the UNC System plans from Fidelity to TIAA, a blackout period affecting Fidelity accounts is expected to begin 4 p.m. Monday, March 25, and to end the week of April 15, 2024.

During this time, you will not be able to change your investment choices, take or change loans, make withdrawals or transfer funds.

Please note: The date of the end of the blackout period may be subject to change.

For more information, please review the notice mailed to your home address in January. You can also find a copy of this notice at TIAA.org/UNC.
