Instructor Teaching Observations
The school conducts a teaching observation of all first-time adjunct instructors and permanent faculty undergoing third-year review, promotion and tenure, post-tenure review or reappointment.
Teaching observations help our teachers become more reflective by seeing their own teaching style and strategies from another experienced teacher’s perspective. Teachers are observed for at least 25 minutes. Afterwards, the observer meets with the teacher in person, by phone, or Zoom to discuss their teaching, help them reflect on the teaching choices observed, and assist them in generating ideas and strategies for the future. The purpose of this discussion is to be helpful and supportive, identifying strengths in addition to areas for improvement.
Sr. Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs schedules teaching observations.
