I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT:

Employee Eligibility for Performance Season

Employees who are eligible to participate in the annual performance review process are all permanent EHRA Non-Faculty and SHRA employees (part-time and full-time, permanent and time-limited) who have worked at UNC-Chapel Hill for at least 6 months prior to the end of the performance appraisal cycle (March 31). This includes new hires, probationary employees and transfers.

Employees who are not eligible to participate in the annual performance review process include faculty, student employees, temporary employees and EHRA Non-Faculty employees who follow an alternative performance appraisal procedure. Employees on leave for six or more months or on leave during the performance season and EHRA Non-Faculty and SHRA employees who have not worked for the University for at least six months do not receive the annual performance review.

For more information about eligibility and exceptions, see the Employee Performance Management and Appraisal Policy.

Annual Self-Assessment

An employee self-assessment task for the 2023-24 performance cycle was available to eligible employees between March 15 and March 31, 2024.

Are you a permanent staff member eligible for an annual performance appraisal? Each year, you have the chance to evaluate your accomplishments and growth areas by completing your optional self-assessment in Carolina Talent.

The assessment asks the following questions:

  • Describe your accomplishments for the review period. As you do so, think about the people who are impacted by your work and note the outcomes you achieved for your customers, clients, communities or the University at large.
  • Describe your performance on this review period’s individual and institutional goals. Include challenges you faced, what you learned and what you might do differently in the future.
  • Complete any unit-specific self-assessment questions assigned by your manager or department (if applicable).
  • Add any additional information that you would like considered for this review period.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to reflect on the past year and write an assessment that includes your most impactful accomplishments.
